Craniosynostosis T-shirts, Onesies, and Hoodies Designs!
I am a professional artist, and I needed a place to direct some of my energy when we were facing my son Micah's first surgery. I wanted him to have some cute clothes that let the world know that we can see that he's different, but that we were open to questions and to raising awareness about craniosynostosis. I found that there really wasn't much available to this community, so I created some designs! Recently, I've added to the collection, and I'm pleased to share the line of clothing here. I'll be adding to it as time goes on. You can purchase all of these items in whatever size, color or style you prefer by clicking the Shop Now button below. Each design is available as a onesie, one of two t-shirt styles, and hoodie!
Our Success Journey with Craniosynostosis!
Meet my son, Micah, the inspiration behind these designs. He was born with saggital craniosynostosis, a medical condition in which the plates of the skull fuse too soon and need to be surgically corrected. Other types of craniosynostosis include lambdoid, coronal, and metopic. We found out on Day 2 of his life, and at 4 months old, he had a cranial vault reconstruction (CVR) by Dr. Kevin Kelly at Vanderbilt in Nashville, TN. I 100% DO NOT recommend using this surgeon for your child's correction. He is using outdated techniques and a large majority of his patients need a second surgery to fill in the holes left from the first one. This is what happened to Micah and many of the kids we got to know through the Vandy Cranio Moms group on Facebook.
We sought out who we considered to be the best surgeon to fix the original surgery mistakes and Micah had his second CVR in 2019 at age 6 with Dr. Fearon in Dallas. He did so well! And this will be the last surgery needed. Micah is a thriving, smart, and happy kid. When you are first going through the craniosynostosis journey, it is overwhelming and scary, but if you talk to any parent of one of these warriors, you'll hear over and over "Kids are so resilient. If I'd known how well he (or she) would do, I wouldn't have stressed so much." This is true. Reach out to me if you need someone to talk through everything with. I'd be honored to chat with you.
